Mid-Atlantic District Newsletter

In an effort to save postage and paper cost, not to mention the impact on our earth, WRJ Mid-Atlantic District shifted from paper to electronic publication of its newsletter, the Mid-Atlantic Candle.  It also saves time, human resources, and enables sisterhood presidents to distribute each issue to the entire membership with a click of a button.  It is a great way to educate members about the district and also take pride in your sisterhood’s contributions to the Mid-Atlantic Candle.    And don’t forget, our Newsletters are meant to be shared so please forward them onto your members when you receive it.  To make an editorial contribution or to share news of your sisterhood, please contact the Mid-Atlantic Candle editor, Judy Silver Weisberg at judy.silver11@verizon.

Branding

In order to develop a recognizable image, WRJ has created a logo and a set of guidelines for its use.  It also has selected a color pallet and type faces to ensure that, regardless of who is using its name and logo, there will be a uniform presentation.  Downloadable logos, guidelines about use, type fonts, and a style manual are all available in the password-protected area of the WRJ website.

The president of all WRJ affiliates should have access to the password-protected area of the WRJ website and may use her discretion as to how to share this information with her sisterhood’s leadership.  If your sisterhood cannot access this area of the website, your sisterhood president should contact Rachel Jurisz or call WRJ toll free at 1.866.WRJ.5924.

Communications

Effective communications is the key to success within and between sisterhoods and WRJ.  Districts are designed to help by assigning an Area Director to each sisterhood as “First Source” of information.  Every sisterhood should know who their Area Director is and how to contact them.  Click on Directory, for a list of Area Directors for the WRJ Mid-Atlantic District.

Although, email is an excellent way to send a message to multiple people or to communicate without concern about time of day, remember that not everyone is technology savvy.  Be patient and always try to use multiple approaches to marketing a program or communicating a message.

A few important tips to remember when communicating by email:

  1. Never assume that just because you sent an email, that it was received.  Be sure to ask for confirmation of receipt if you are expecting a reply.  This way you can be sure that the person received the information and it has not been lost or misdirected.

  1. Remember that it is easy to interpret emails incorrectly because the reader does not have the benefit of hearing your voice or seeing your expression.  When sending information that may be sensitive, write the email and read it again with fresh eyes before sending it.

  1. If email is regularly used as a means of communication within your sisterhood, be sure to use an auto-reply when you are going to be away from your computer for a long period of time.  This will notify the sender that you are not able to reply immediately.
